Function

Pressure Limiting Valves are different to pressure reducing valves - a pressure reducing valve is designed for use in applications which require far greater accuracy in controlling outlet pressure over a wide range of inlet pressures. Whereas a pressure limiting valve only controls the inlet supply line pressure to a pre-set maximum, and will remain in the open position if the pressure in the supply line falls below that pre-set maximum.

Pressure Limiting Valves

Operation

The PS and PSL are designed with a small back pressure area, and can tolerate a wide differential between its closing pressure and the opening pressure of a P&T valve. Consequently these valves are ideal for use with high pressure water heaters.

Application

Ideal for limiting pressure in pressure-sensitive pipelines, e.g., plastic and for other applications requiring pressure control above 350 kPa.

Options

PS is available in three sizes, DN 15 (1/2"), 20 (3/4") and 25 (1") connections can be male, female or flared

PSL is only available in two sizes, DN 15 (1/2") and 20 (3/4") connections can be male, female or flared

Maintenance and trouble shooting

It should be noted that water borne sediment or dirt can, in certain circumstances, prevent the internal mechanism of the PS and PSL valves from functioning properly. It is recommended that in areas where the inlet pipes can cause water borne sediment, properly maintained. Strainers are used where necessary.
